For millennia, Mount Nemrud of Eastern Turkey has served as a never-ending source of fascination and intrigue for historians, leading many to christen it the Eighth Wonder of the Ancient World. Though the mountain is a natural structure in and of itself, an ancient monarch named Antiochus the Great of Kommagene constructed a burial temple on-site in the first century B.C., and was laid to rest there after his death. Tolga Ornek's documentary Mount Nemrud: The Throne of the Gods investigates Mount Nemrud in all of its ancient and contemporary glory, via a deft combination of CG-animation, archival footage of archaeological digs on Nemrud, extensive interviews with historians and dramatic reenactments of famous battles that transpired on and around the mountain. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
