Nope.

False. Is it time for the Blair Witch Project treatment? Here are the numbers to do it: people under age 25 account for half of all new HIV infections each year. But here's the stat to win the mother of all game shows: one in three people in the U.S. infected with HIV don't know yet that they're infected. So what's the take-home message? Get tested.

Lots of you have heard the "get tested if you've had unprotected sex" line from your doctors, teachers, and family members before... but most of you aren't going. A national survey of teens 15-17 found that three in four who have had sex say they have never taken the most important test of their life: HIV.

I know, I know. Getting tested for HIV is more of a drag than taking the SATs. You thought it sucked to wait a lifetime for your SAT scores; and now you're going to wait two weeks for your HIV results? It can be scary for a lot of people. But the sooner you get tested nd find out your results, the sooner you'll know--and if you are HIV positive, the sooner you can get health care to help you live longer and healthier. If you're not HIV-positive, getting tested can help you find out ways to stay safe in the future.

There are lots of HIV testing sites that are confidential, convenient, and best of all, free. To find out where to go FAST, call the National Teenage AIDS Hotline at 1 800 440 TEEN or the national AIDS hotline at 1-800-342-AIDS. Better yet, ask someone you know who's been tested to walk you through the process-maybe even take you. (Hey, it might be time for their next HIV test.)
