Right On! False. Pills and shots can be expensive but the folks in Congress have heard your complaints, and for more than twenty years they've set aside money so people who can't afford it can get free and low-cost birth control. This money (called Title Ten, or Title X) helps local clinics provide birth control that could cost you the Big Zero, or they might charge a small fee, depending on what you can afford. How do you find these free or low-cost services? Go to your local Planned Parenthood or another community clinic - and just to be sure, call and ask them about their fees (if there are any) before you go. To find a Planned Parenthood clinic, call their national hotline at 1-800-230-PLAN. To find a low-cost community clinic, look in the phone book in the city or county section under "health center". |
