Gaming News From The Blogosphere

No one can deny that blogs are the place to be for up-to-the-minute gaming news. With the re-launch of our own blog GameDrop, we wanted to pay homage to some of our blogger brethren, and let you know some of the best places to find your of the daily video game news fix around the web.

Gaming News From The Blogosphere

  1. KotakuThe granddaddy of all the gaming blogs. Owned by blogosphere giant, Gawker Media, this blog is updated with gaming goodness 24 hours a day and from all around the world. With staff writers in Japan, Australia and around the U.S., Kotaku's one of the best sites for the absolute latest news. Everything from game cakes to industry news can be found here.

  2. JoystiqJoystiq gives you the best of the best in terms of gaming news, and they cut out the fluff. They have the luxury of being able to pick the best content from their network of blogs, which includes DS, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 fanboy sites, as well as insider sites that focus solely on games like 'Second Life' and 'World and Warcraft.'

  3. DestructoidMore fluff, less news... but in a good way. Destructoid is barely a year old, but has cultivated a dedicated following with their irreverent posts and brutal honesty towards everything gaming. If Joystiq is The New York Times of gaming, you could think of Destructoid as the New York Post (not right-wing though, of course). Plus, they house the absolute best collection of video game nerdcore found anywhere on the net.

  4. GayGamerWhile the name might steer some close-minded people away, GayGamer is for everybody. Made famous by their controversial "Gayest Characters in Gaming" list, the site is always good for a giggle, and, for some gamers, a different and welcome point of view on gaming.

  5. MultiplayerNot to toot our own neighbor's horn, but MTV News' Stephen Totilo is one of gaming's most respected journalists. In Multiplayer, he chronicles his adventures in gaming and you can always rely on Totilo to share insightful thoughts on gaming (including such randomness as the societal impact of how many PSPs he sees on the subway).

  6. MaxConsoleA gaming perspective from across the pond. While the site is based in the Europe, there's a lot of great international content here. Although some other blogs may shun it, MaxConsole is one of the top sites for daily updates with what is going on in the modding and homebrew scenes.

  7. GoNintendoGo to GoNintendo for everything (and we mean absolutely everything) about Nintendo. If you need to see the latest screenshots from the next DS Japanese import you're planning on namedropping? GoNintendo's got them. RawmeatCowboy heads the tiny staff dedicated to the little company from Japan that has changed so many peoples' lives.

  8. Matt Casamassina's on IGNThe most personal blog on the list, Mr. Casamassina is one of the most well-known Nintendo-dedicated writers around (you know you're important when Perrin Kaplan knows you by name). Follow his blog if you want insights into the life of a gaming journalist, as well as thoughts on some of the coolest gadgets that he can get his hands on.

  9. Major NelsonLarry "Major Nelson" Hryb started his blog to bring the Xbox Live team a little closer to their audience, and that's exactly what he does every single day. Dedicated to keeping his fans updated with the latest Xbox Live content, his blog is the destination site for you to check out what you are going to be spending your MS Points on next.

  10. PlayStation.BlogPlaystation.blog is a much better attempt by Sony to dive into the blogsphere than their previous one (AllIWantForChristmasIsAPSP.com was quickly exposed as a cheap marketing ploy). But Threespeech doesn't hide the fact that they are shilling Sony, and that's what makes it better. Head here for all you can eat PSP, PS2 and PS3 updates, including new downloadable content and game announcements.
