About the Show

Sunday, July 27, 2014

The first-ever mtvU Fandom Awards have officially come and gone, and they can only be described with one word: epic. Honoring fan favorite movies and television shows, the award show brought on big-time feels for all of the diehard fans whose countless votes made sure each and every one of their fave fandoms took home a prize.

Veronica Mars' loyal "Marshmallows" once again vaulted their favorite teenage private eye into the winner's spot, making sure the movie survived elimination throughout the massive 32-nominee bracket for "Fandom of the Year." Tina Majorino, who plays Mac in "Veronica Mars," accepted the night's biggest honor from fellow fandom-er, Orlando Jones of "Sleepy Hollow."

The Marshmallows weren't the only fandom to take home a 'W.' Tyler Posey of 'Teen Wolf' was on hand to present Jamie Lannister and Margaery Tyrell (a.k.a. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Natalie Dormer) of 'Game of Thrones' with the "OMG Moment of the Year" for the Purple Wedding episode. 'The Vampire Diaries' alums Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder accepted the award for "Ship of the Year" for 'Delena,' graciously thanking their passionate fandom. The guys and girls of 'Teen Wolf' "Fandom Feat of the Year" for their wolf sanctuary, and accepted the award for their canine-friendly fans.

There's no confirmation whether 'Harry Potter' fans used magic to win the most votes for the "Best Fandom Forever" category, but Matthew Lewis happily took home the award for Harry, Ron, Hermione and co. Last, but not least, 'Hannibal' devoured the votes for "Breakout Fandom," proving that victory is a dish best served...well, let's not even go there. The Fault In Our Stars author John Green received the mtvU Visionary Award as a testament to his ridiculously awesome literary contributions to the fandom universe, while Channing Tatum, Diego Luna and Chloe Grace Moretz also presented exclusive clips from their highly anticipated upcoming films. All-star celeb presenters included Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Kellan Lutz, Gillian Jacobs, Retta and a few other special guests. Performances from multi-platinum rock band Linkin Park and rising hip-hop star G-Eazy shut down the show with a truly epic after party, officially making the whole shindig a series-finale-status can't-miss event.
