Sway: You've never been scared of revealing too much about yourself as a person.
DMX: Nope. I bear my soul. [Rapping] "N---as wouldn't dare/ My role leaves me with a heart of gold/ But with a hole."
Sway: Does the album give a deeper sense of who you are?
DMX: No. It's what's gonna happen [to the rest of these rappers] when the album drops. It's gonna be a f---in' depression.
Sway: I understand Stephanie Mills wanted to be on the album after she heard your song "When I'm Nothin'," which sampled one of her hits.
DMX: Yeah. She made a song [in 1979] called, "What Cha Gonna Do With My Lovin'." I was like, "You know what? It would be hot [to use it], because I'm a fan of hers." I was like, "Yo, could you imagine if I had a song [called] 'What Cha Gonna Do When I'm Nothin'?' You got all these cats sitting around ... and everybody loves you and you're the greatest and blah, blah, blah. But if you say to yourself, "What you gonna do when I'm not the greatest? When you don't like my music anymore?" It happens all the time. I just wanna let them know. [RealVideo]
Sway: Does that apply to everybody?
DMX: Yeah, if you f--- with me for real, then f--- with me. If you don't f--- with me, leave me alone, man.
Sway: Are you still happy rapping at this point in your career?
DMX: Yeah. I love doing it, man. I just hate all the bullsh-- that's comin' into play.
Sway: You did a record with Jadakiss, called "Un-Hunh!" A lot of people thought some of those lyrics were referring to Jay-Z.
DMX: If I was referring to Jay-Z, I'd have said, "Jay-Z." I would've said a lot more than that if I was referring to [him].
Sway: You've got your own record company now, Bloodline. Are you excited about playing the role of executive?
DMX: Not really. I'm more [interested] in the training. I hired all of the executives. [You won't] catch me in the office much, but as far as the development of the artists, I'm right there.
Sway: In the past, there were a lot of rumors about beef between the Ruff Ryders. Have you guys reconciled your differences?
DMX: Yeah. I guess you could say that. I'm good.
Sway: You're good? You're a pretty intense dude, bro! [Both laugh] You just signed a new movie deal with Warner Bros. How many more movies you going to be doing?
DMX: It's a three-picture deal, but outside of that I still have a couple of offers for movies. I'm just gonna do it until I don't want to do it no more. [RealVideo]
Sway: What kind of roles are you looking for? [RealVideo]
DMX: All types of roles. I wanna play a teacher, a preacher, a guy in a wheelchair. I wanna play everything, man. [RealVideo]
Sway: You had a chance to work with Aaliyah. Is there anything you want to say about her?
DMX: Her life was a blessing in mine. I'll leave it at that. I don't even want to think about that right now.
Sway: Is there anything you'd want to change about the way you're living right now? Or does all the hype just come with the territory?
DMX: I just know how to handle it now. I'm good. You know what? I wish people would stop taking pictures of me while I'm eating. I can handle the rest.
