Pak: Are you guys prepared to do the press, to do the performances with just the two of you?
T-Boz: Honestly, you have no choice. You gotta do it. It comes with the job.
Pak: Was Lisa incorporated in the video for "Girl Talk"? How did you guys do that?
Chilli: Well, we can't tell everything, 'cause we don't want to give anything away. It's something really special, really cute, at the very end of the video. We have clothes that say "Left Eye" and pictures of her going down the side of the jogging pants ... [The dancers] have [her] little black mark underneath the eye.
T-Boz: We take it video by video and project by project. ... Lisa isn't here — that's reality. It's not easy to come up with how to incorporate her, especially when she has a whole rap in the song.
Chilli: We didn't want it to be your typical video [with] old clips. Sometimes, stuff like that fits certain songs, but to show old clips of Lisa that did fit "Girl Talk," we came up with some really cool stuff.
Pak: Eric from Bowling Green Kentucky writes to T-Boz, "Within your book of poems, Thoughts, you have a poem titled, "Why." After the death of Lisa, I read this and it made me very sad. "Things happen for a reason/ The reason may be a test," is a quote. What do you feel your test is?"
T-Boz: [That] is a very deep and thoughtful question. ... I do believe everything happens for a reason, but I don't know what my test is. I've been through a lot as far as sickle cell [anemia] and other things in my life, but I know God put me here for something. That could have been my test. ... I had a child that they said I couldn't have. I have a husband, I have a great life, I have a great group and I have a great career. I couldn't ask for anything better.
Pak: After ten plus years, what makes you guys still want to make music? What is it that keeps you going?
T-Boz: Can I say something about artistry? You know how you watch videos and you see people dance? Just because they're learning routines, doesn't really mean they're dancers. Dancing is heartfelt. ... It's the same thing with singing. Being an artist and wanting to do this, it's in us. ... [It wasn't] like, "Let's put this group together and teach her how to be ..." We came like, "This is what I'm doing," and it worked for us, thank God.
Chilli: When you have a love for something like that and want to be an entertainer, that's something that lives on through you forever. It never dies.
