NEW YORK Ever since Def Jam paired them up for their "Month of the Man" marketing campaign in late 1994, Redman and Method Man the Funk Doc and Tical have been inseparable.
Spending all that time together, from irking crooked cops and driving ice-cream trucks in the video for their first duet, "How High," to literally getting high flying above the heads of thousands of fans during 1999's Hard Knock Life tour, that is has helped the two build a brotherly bond that has reached all the way to the big screen with a buddy comedy, "How High," that hits theaters next month.
Like twins, each can tell what the other is thinking sometimes. When you ask them questions, they finish off each other's answers. Today in the studio, however, the two discover that their brainwaves didn't sync up the previous night after a recording session, much to Redman's dismay.
"Damn," says Redman to Method. "You left my damn [video] game in the game [console], and I left it up at the studio."
"You left it up in the studio in the PlayStation 2?" Meth asks, genuinely concerned. "Somebody's gonna go up in there and probably erase your f---ing memory card."
"Jeez, I was heated when I got home," the Doc recalls. "You know what's ill? I took the card and did not take the game. Got home like, 'I'm about to burn it, my man got me some levels' ... Left the sh-- right in the studio."
