Artist: T. Waters

Mixtape: Flood Watch

Representing: GA and NYC

411: You definitely remember T. Waters from him getting on mixtapes with the LOX and J. Hood, but he's actually signed to Jermaine Dupri's So So Def and is one of the first artists tapped to release a record on the rejuventated label. As a kid, Waters grew up down the block from Jadakiss but moved to Savannah, Georgia. Dupri is banking on him to be one of his flagship artists in the years to come.

Joints To Check For
  • "Big Homie" First it was Kane and Abel, then it was Sam and Gotti — now it's T. and his main man in an age-old tale of betrayal in the streets. T. Waters was down with an older head and they became close, but unfortunately his "big homie" started snitching on him and reparations have to be paid.

  • "Slow Down Freestyle" Them country boys love the ladies, too. Here, T. jacks Bobby Valentino's "Slow Down" to get his point across.

  • "Throw'd Off" This song is actually T.'s official introduction and will appear on the So So Def compilation Young, Fly and Flashy, which comes out July 12. What does it mean to be "throw'd off"? He breaks it down throughout the track while hurling metaphors.

Celebrity Favs

Jadakiss, one of the greatest spitters of this era, knows who he would like to see go on tour this summer. "I'm a real old-school n---a," he said recently. "I was just thinking about Grand Puba, Rakim, Kool G Rap. Them n---as could sell some units with the right backing behind them. Them n---as would slaughter it. If Kool G Rap, KRS-One, Rakim and Big Daddy Kane went on tour, it would be nuts. Then after the tour they do an album — they could easily get money."

The Streets Is Talking: News & Notes From The Underground

Freestyle champ Cassidy has taken off his boxing gloves and decided to focus more on the pursuit of excellence in songmaking. But that doesn't mean he won't rise to a challenge.

"I'm always in my battle-ready mode," Cassidy said. "I'm always ready to go at it. I did say I was the battle champion. I retired undefeated like Rocky Marciano. Anybody that was somebody in the game when I was doing it, I murdered them. I was out there, all day, every day. Now, there's no reason for me to come out of retirement unless it's gonna be some big fight."

The streets have been asking Cassidy about the possibility of a couple of battles, though. On the recent "The Come Up, Volume 4" DVD, up-and-comer Murder Mook called Cassidy out, and several weeks ago on Hot 97, 50 Cent warned the MC to watch his mouth as well. Cassidy had words for them both.

"The first cat you named, I never even heard of him," he said, referring to Mook. "He don't got no situation, he can't even ride the beat. The kid is a clown. The second kid [50 Cent], said I better watch it. That's my type of ballgame. I would get involved with that [battle], 'cause I got something to gain. The kid might be appealing to a bigger fanbase than me, I might can snatch a few fans. But I'm focusing on my music. Make history, turn the females on, keep it moving."

Immortal Technique recently hit George W. Bush with his angry feelings on "Bin Laden, Part 2," featuring hip-hop's political heavy hitters KRS-One and Chuck D on the hook. The two spit, "Bin Laden didn't blow up the projects/ It was you, n---a, it was you/ Bush knocked down the towers/ It was you, n---a, it was you." The Green Lantern-produced burner opens with Al Sharpton shouting, "Our parents survived the middle passage, only the strong got here ... so you may have a momentary victory, Mr. Bush, but you don't know who we are." Meanwhile, Immortal Technique spits, "I pledge no allegiance/ F--- the president's speeches/ What the industry did to 'Pac, they did to Jesus ... Calling abortion 'murder' in a hospital building/ But don't give a f--- about bombing Iraqi children."
