Jeb Bryan is yelling at Lindsay's little sister.
"Ali, bang on the door!" the assistant director barks. "Make them stop! Go to the phone, Ali! Go to the bed, Ali! Hold the teddy!" Ali is supposed to have just returned home from a ballet class (she's wearing a tutu) and is running around her bedroom in a frenzy as her "parents" fight in the next room. She's the spitting image of Lindsay, but still very much a child — occasionally she runs around the set calling, "Mommy, Mommy!"
Ali is cheerful when asked about appearing in this video — she doesn't mind staying up late, this is fun! But isn't it bringing back bad memories? She looks down, nods, and mumbles, "Sorta, yeah."
Ali says having her big sister around makes the video shoot easier. But when Jeb's directions get too loud — he has to yell them in order to be heard over the shouting "parents" — a label representative reminds him, "She gets scared when you yell at her."
"This was their decision," says Dina Lohan, their mother, about the video's concept. "Lindsay wanted to do this, Ali wanted to be in it. I'm just hoping this helps her vent, like therapy. She didn't bring it on. Her dad did.
"This is her story, and how am I going to stop that?" Dina continues. "I wouldn't — I wouldn't try to. And Ali, this is in her blood, this is what she aspires to do. But you know how she wants to be paid for this? A puppy! She wants a puppy." She pauses for effect. "This is very unreal to me."
A puppy is likely to be one of the less drastic ramifications from this highly personal video. If the clip gives any indication of how angry the real Michael Lohan can get, how will he react when he sees it? He's heard about the song, and has said that he's touched by it, that it brought him to tears — but what's he going to think about the video's plotline of abuse?
Michael is currently serving a four-year prison term at the Collins Correctional Facility outside Buffalo, New York, for multiple but unrelated crimes, including driving while intoxicated and assault (against his brother-in-law). Dina's claims for divorce include assault, rape and death threats; Michael's lawyer has called her a liar.
