More than a million people have gone to the record store in the past month to find out what's going with Mary J. Blige, giving her a #1 album in the process. While most can only find out what the 411 is though her songs, a few of MJB's A-list celebrity fans have other opportunities. Some of them used MTV News as a conduit recently and asked Mary the questions they've always to wanted to know the answers to. Of course, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul took the time to respond.
Mary J. Blige, I want to ask you this: How does "it" feel? You fill in the blanks.
- Jamie Foxx Terrell, TX |
 |
Dear Jamie,
You are a nut. I don't know. "How does 'it' feel?" Hmm. The first thing that comes to my head is "How does love feel?" Love is weird because you gotta work on it. Love is not a picnic, but it's a good thing that happens to you because once you do the work you see the results. And the work is hard. Sometimes you can't be your old big-mouth self.

Mary, I was just wondering: What was the hardest and toughest obstacle that you had to overcome to get to where you're at?
- Allen Iverson Hampton, VA |
 |
Dear A.I.,
The hardest obstacle I had to go through is that I had to really begin to find out how I'm going to care about me. "How am I going to care about me enough to make all the people that hate me go away or make all the people that are using me to go away?" That was the hardest thing. You want people to like you, you want people to love you, you want people to care, but when they don't care and they're just using you and it's a reality ... I had to not be afraid to lose people that I [had once] thought were friends.

I love you and think you're amazing! Mary J., how'd you get so damn fine? You're beautiful, talented and sweet.
- Adam Levine Los Angeles, CA

Dear Adam,
Ha, ha. How did I get so damn fine? I got married. Thank you so much.

Mary J., you're my favorite person in the world. How do you stay so real?
- Eve Philadelphia, PA |
 |
Dear Eve,
Eve, I love you and you're one of my favorite people. The way I stay so real? I understand what I am and what I am not. I just try to focus on what I can do and what I am supposed to be doing. Whatever I can wear is what I can wear. I can't [worry about] whatever everybody else wears, I can't do what everybody else does. I just remember that real chicks don't have to frown all the time, we can definitely respect and love one another and keep it moving.

Mary J., I have a question for you. I'm sure you have an iPod or something of that sort. I wanna know what's on it.
- Mike Shinoda Los Angeles, CA |
 |
Everything is in my iPod. Every record you can think of — not that many rock and roll records, but every R&B artist that ever existed in the music business that I love. Chaka Khan's on there, Jill Scott is on there. I have Stevie Wonder, I have Johnny "Guitar" Watson, the Crusaders, the Ohio Players, the Staple Singers, Biggie, Tupac, Jay-Z, Big Daddy Kane, Black Moon, Meli'sa Morgan — and the list goes on.
