"Got To Get It" (RealVideo)

MTV Radio Network: What's going on, man? How you doing?

Sisqo: Just hanging out, man. It's all good. I'm off to a good start. The album's gold already... everything's been moving in the right direction. Plus I've got a really big single coming out next. I mean, everything's looking up and up. I think 2000's gonna be a big year for me.

MTV: Tell us about "Thong Song."

S: It's gonna be a nationwide phenomenon. It's probably gonna be the biggest song of my career. It was number one on radio countdowns in seven cities and we haven't released it yet, so that's pretty good.

MTV: I was watching MTV's "WebRIOT," and it was one of the choices for one of the answers.

S: What? "Got To Get It" or "Thong Song?" "Thong Song!" Oh my gracious, it's not even out yet. That's pretty good.

MTV: Do you feel that women will feel offended?

S: Nope. They love it, because it's not really derogatory. It's kind of, you know, a fun kind of song. It's kinda like one of those songs that everyone can get into. I was trying to stay away from the whole "scrubs" or "bills" thing. I'm not saying they weren't good songs, but for the year 2000, I think people should just be, like, getting together, having fun instead of this boys-against-the-girls kinda thing. Even though I just did a song with DMX that was, like, kinda female bashing. Whatever, but I mean, it's still hot, so I guess it don't matter.

MTV: How was it, working with DMX?

S: Working with X, it was cool, 'cause Nokio from Dru Hill did the track. Basically I just went in there and did my part, and already it's like, they're talking about making it a single, so I think this really is gonna be a big year for me.

MTV: Are you going on tour?

S: My manager was talking to my new promoter, the same promoter that did the Janet [Jackson] tour and the "Hard Knock Life" tour. I'm working under that guy now, and Famous Entertainment. We were talking about probably first of spring, you're gonna see me on tour with... I don't know who, but it's looking really good.

What happened was, [my tour promoter] put [a press release] out minute that we signed. He put it out on Friday, and by Saturday night, he had, like, five hundred requests. That's pretty good, huh? All over the world, not just America.

MTV: Do you have plans for your live show?

S: We're in production right now, because it's the first-ever interactive show. It's a lot of different, new special effects that we're using. Some things I've never seen in a show. Well, me personally, I've never seen ever. We're definitely gonna try some new things... a lot of the things that you saw in "The Matrix" you'll probably see on my show. The tricks on the wires and stuff like that. I'ma try to make it real entertaining for people, hopefully, that may not know who I am as an artist. Maybe I can suck 'em in with the show, because that's always been my strongest point.

MTV: How are all the other Dru Hill solo projects going?

Sisqo: Jazz is in the middle of working on his project. Nokio is still producing. As a matter of fact, just last week he was in the studio with my female group LovHer -- pretty much the female Dru Hill. Woody's album is done, I think. He's just waiting on the release date and what the first single is.

MTV: Do you think the people are shocked that everyone in Dru Hill is coming out with their own stuff?

S: I don't know. I mean, for the people, I think it's like... we definitely had to try our best to keep it as interesting as possible. We didn't want to come out with another album, and then people would just be like, "Oh, here they come again." We didn't want that to happen. So it's all in good time.

The three of us ain't Dru Hill. The four of us are, you know? It's like, even though a lot of people are still figuring out who Dru Hill is, we didn't want to send a mixed message of three guys, four guys, or one guy. That's why we decided to do Dru World Order, so you could see there's different members of the group. When we do the new Dru album, hopefully it'll clear out a lot of the confusion.

MTV: At least they know you're not named Dru.

S: Yeah, I hope so. I hope they know I'm not Dru.
