San Diego's P.O.D. (Payable On Death) has been compared to lots of other bands, from thrash funk knuckleheads to ska punks to Rasta rockers. But the danger of trying to categorize these guys doesn't just spring from the fact that the four band members -- drummer Wuv, bassist Traa, singer Sonny, and guitarist Marcos -- are vocal and ardent Christians. It's that their Christianity seems, weirdly enough, perfectly suited to the driving guitars, monster bass lines, supersonic percussion, and hip-hop vocals found in so much of their music. This is prayer turned up to eleven.

Behind constant touring (the band averages about 150 shows a year and is heading to Europe with Korn in a few months), P.O.D. has built an intensely loyal fan base. It's not unusual for all four of them to spend time after a show hanging out with the predominately young, teenage crowds that flock to see them, talking about everything under the sun. And the success of their major-label full-length debut, "The Fundamental Elements of Southtown," is bringing even more fans into the fold.

On a recent visit to New York, the four took some time out to chat with the MTV Radio Network's Meridith Gottlieb about the perils of stardom, their belief in their own music, and their religious faith.
