Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes.

Although they've been typically been associated with The Beatles, a group they've openly credited since the very beginning, Oasis' new album, "Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants," seems to take that very cue from the songbook of musical chameleon David Bowie. Changes do indeed abound on the new album and in Oasis' new lineup. Gone are the more direct, simplistic three-chord rock songs that characterized the group's first three studio efforts. On "Giants," those ingredients have been replaced by a denser soundscape of rhythm tracks, samples, and loops, giving the new album an even more spacious scope than such archetypal Oasis epics as "Champagne Supernova" and "All Around The World."

After completing "Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants," there were more changes in store for Oasis, as founding members Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs and Paul McGuigan opted to walk away from the group. Such a shake-up left brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher (along with drummer Alan White) with a choice of either reconstructing Oasis or calling it a day.

Emboldened by the challenge, the Gallagher brothers circled the proverbial musical wagons and tapped some old friends -- Gem from Heavy Stereo and Andy Bell from Ride -- to join Oasis for what Noel Gallagher recently told MTV Europe was the "next stage in the band's natural evolution."

Our colleagues in MTV Europe recently sat down with Noel to discuss the recent creative shifts in the band as well as the recording of the new album and were surprised by his candid dismissal of Oasis' last two albums and his admission that he's yet to be completely satisfied with any of the group's efforts so far.

Noel also touched on his love-hate relationship with younger brother Liam. Like a good sibling, Noel chides his brother for the Beatlesque touches on "Little James," the first Liam-written track to be included on an Oasis album, but then turns around and gives him respect for being stubborn and keeping true to his vision of the track.
