Maybe there's something in the water. Maybe it's all in the geography.
Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, the gateway between the South and the Midwest, Nelly and his St. Lunatics crew developed a style synthesizing the bounce of the former with the "country" of the latter -- a down-home, laid-back attitude embracing everything from linguistics to lifestyle and beyond.
One video shoot later, the MC and everyone on his block were on TV introducing the nation to the concept of "Country Grammar" -- and just six weeks after it hit stores, his self-titled debut LP had yet to drop from the "Billboard" Top 5 and was already certified double platinum.
Maybe it's just that the man's got skills.
