He introduced you to "The Mind Of Mystikal" in 1996 before a multiplatinum move to No Limit found him feeling both "Unpredictable" and "Ghetto Fabulous." Now, with "Let's Get Ready," the Crescent City MC returns to Jive slinging an unngh-tastic strip-club anthem, "Shake Ya Ass," and brandishing a number one album debut.

Saluting his home state, from N.O. to B.R. and beyond, Mystikal keeps his Southernplayalistic (nod to collaborators Outkast) style intact on "Let's Get Ready," not only with producers Medicine Men -- formerly No Limit house sound-shapers Beats By The Pound -- but also with the outer-space-via-New York producers of the moment, the Neptunes, with other contributions from the likes of Bink!, Precise & D-Funk, and Earthtone III.

MTV News' Darin Byrne caught up with the gruff-growling MC and talked about his jumps from Jive to No Limit and back, rival down-South bouncers, and how he feels about being compared to the incomparable James Brown.

Don't make Mystikal leave here with his foot in your (you know the rest)...
