MTV News: First off, what does your new record title mean? What does Ghetto Postage stand for?
Master P: It means I'm gonna deliver the mail this year, all platinum. I'm the mailman of rap. And I got the first animated rap video [for "Souljas"], so we're about to make history all over again and reset the standards. You can't just stand on the corner and do your cars and the girls. Now you have to step up to modern tech. We're going to that other level.
MTV: Did you work with anyone outside of the No Limit camp on the album?
Master P: On this particular album, the only person I worked with outside the No Limit family is Tamar Braxton. We did a duet song called "Soulja Boo." To be able to do that together and bring my audience something different, I think that's going to be a big plus for this album.
MTV: What's the vibe like?
Master P: It's got a little bit of everything. It's got reality songs, it's got a lot of party, a lot of high-energy club music, so we're coming with something for everybody. North, West, South, East. There ain't no limit.
MTV: Silkk, your album has been pushed back until the beginning of the year. Is the album completed, and are you going to do more work on it since you have more time?
Silkk the Shocker: I might touch it up a little, but it's pretty much completed. The title of my album is My World, My Way, meaning I'm going to do it my way, my own way this time. Just put it down.
MTV: What's going to be different about this album?
Silkk: I've just seen more. I've been more places, and therefore I grew. So by next year I'm gonna grow more, and [that'll be reflected on] my next album.
MTV: How did the two of you work in the studio together?
Master P: I beat him up. Nah, it's all love, it's all family. We just vibe off each other. I think that's what the whole No Limit legacy is about. Being able to keep this going -- that's what we've been doing. We've had to grow and constantly come up with something new, the new slangs. You just gotta keep coming. Like with my new single, "Souljas": "I don't know what you've been told, but No Limit Soldiers came to rock and roll." We want these types of songs that are going to wake you up in the morning time and keep you on the dance floor.
I mean, we've been through a lot, trying to stay on top, trying to survive. Most people, they get to the top and they fall off, and that's what people look for. The media look for you to fall off, the fans look for you to fall off. All we did was take a seat on the bench and say we're coming back bigger and better for the Y2G, and that's what we're doing. I mean, we've been through so much, but now it's time again to come back and shine. Right now, y'all gotta have this No Limit stuff, 'cause it's our time again, and we're ready for it.
MTV: Speaking of family, what is the future of TRU? Is there going to be another collaboration?
Master P: Oh yeah, there's going to be another big TRU record. We're gonna set 2001 off with the TRU album.
