He doesn't give a damn about a Grammy, but he does give a damn aboutshowing up at the ceremony and pissing you off ... or making you lovehim even more, as the case may be. Even after walking away with two statuettes last year, the inclusion ofthe industry's enfant terrible in 2001's festivities found himeyed like a convict on furlough; you half expected the revered rapper and accused homophobe/misogynist/equal-opportunity hater to show up clad in an orange "murder suit" and shackles.
When it was all said and done, though, there were a few more bagged statuettes,a high-profile performance with the world's most beloved gay musician, ahug shared and a bird flipped. Not a bad show for Eminem, really. Butwhat he wants you to know is that it all meant something. What thatsomething is, only he can explain.
After the smoke cleared, Eminem sat down exclusively with MTV News' KurtLoder to candidly discuss everything that had just gone down, from thepros and cons of winning and losing to how his duet with Elton John cameabout. He also delves into his use of the other F-word, hisdevelopmental years in the underground, and how he can sell 8 millionalbums and still be angry. As always, the man does not mince words.
Be sure to return next week for part two of Loder's exclusive interviewwith Eminem, in which he shares his plans for album #3 and much, muchmore.
