Whether they're wrestling over songs or sparring in the studio, Aerosmith are in fighting form. The band's 13th studio album, Just Push Play debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200, just mere moments (in Aerosmith hours, anyway) before kindred spirit Kid Rock helped deliver its name to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Guitarist Joe Perry sat down with VH1's Rebecca Rankin upon the album's release and talked about glossy videos and slick demos, the buzz of creativity and how a nice, long world tour is just the vacation he needs right now. And in our prime RealVideo from the launch of MTV Japan, the whole band loose-talks about longevity, the secrets of their success and the "Jaded" video, which leads to a rather bizarre discussion of sexual symbolism.

Rebecca Rankin: How was [the making of the "Jaded" video] different for you from videos past? There are a lot of special effects; you've used them before.

Joe Perry: Every video's different. Francis [Lawrence] was very specific about what he wanted and we were very specific. We wanted to take some of the ideas of the Cirque du Soleil show and bring it into the video. It was marvelously opulent and sexual, and the colors were great and it was rich. It was the first time I'd ever walked onto a set and got goose bumps. When [I saw] that first shot, [the] big staircase [with] all those performers, and that giraffe, I felt like I was in a Fellini movie. It was incredible. It's like making a three-minute movie. It costs as much, and so it's a real luxury to have to opportunity to do that. And I love animals.

Rankin: Just to see it transform ... I'm sure it's awesome seeing the final cut too.

Perry: It's funny, because when they get the first [edits] back, they have notes written on the screen like, "Steven [Tyler]'s head will turn into a horse here." Or "Joe will be in the fireplace." So you have to kind of take it for granted that some of that stuff is going to work.
