8. Familiar faces.
Now that "Idol" is 5 years old, longtime fans should be recognizing more and more singers from previous seasons.
"We see that quite a bit," Randy Jackson said of repeat offenders. "During auditions, we encourage people to come back. If they're young and they're of age, we say, 'Listen, if you didn't make it, you can always come back.' "
And how do they do? "We refuse them then, too," joked Nigel Lythgoe.
"I think what happens is people have selective listening," Jackson explained. "In our comments that we give these kids, every time we see them we're actually giving them comments of things that they need to work on and it's just funny that not a lot of them actually go and work on that. Or I guess maybe they don't know how to work on that."
