6. Bo and Constantine wannabes.
Neither won, but 2005 "rockers" Bo Bice and Constantine Maroulis brought a certain rock edge and realness to "Idol" that the show had never seen before. And just as Fantasia's win the year prior brought out a batch of fun-loving, gospel-singing ladies last season (Nadia and Vonzell included), Bo and Constantine's success inspired other longhaired Led Zeppelin-worshippers to leave their tired local bar scene for the bright lights of the "Idol" stage.
"There are some good rockers that hopefully will be represented in this season," Randy Jackson said. "I think you're going to be very, very impressed."
Jackson also pointed to NBC's "Rock Star: INXS" as further proof that rock singers can launch their careers on reality TV, partly because "the kid who won actually can really sing."
