2. Simon's returning with a fat raise ... and you thought Randy and Paula were bitter last season.
With his contract about to expire, Simon Cowell asked for a hefty increase this off-season. "Idol" creator Simon Fuller responded by suing the feisty judge for copying the show with his own British series, "The X-Factor." For a while it looked like Cowell might not be returning, but the Simons settled out of court and he's signed on for five more seasons at a much higher salary. So why should you care? Because Randy's not afraid to talk about it.
"We're waiting on our raise to match his," Jackson said. "I think we're better than him."
Jackson then broke out laughing, which is a good sign the Cowell issue will be fodder for their arguments this season.
"We have our bouts," Jackson revealed. "We had some during this audition season. Simon gets a little bit high on himself sometimes, so I have to whittle him down. I'm the man trying to regulate for the American public."
