Hailing out of Oakland (The Bay Area) California where artist were formerly known for the Hyphy Movement, YOGY brings lyrics, ambition and life back into the creativity of Northen California hip hop. After growing up changing homes frequently between Oakland and San Francisco due to his father's imprisonment and single mother struggling to raise a growing boy, change, diversity and self-determination describes the music and lifestyle YOGY embodies. Now revamping his image from a young artist to a man with a message, he has release a few visuals for his project, Kings Wear Crowns, which was distributed early 2013. In his first single, "Mackin' & Hangin'" he shows this change with the roots for the visual which were inspired by Oakland Black Panther Activist Huey P Newton's famous chair photo. The 2nd released vide for "40's & Beanie Caps" was picked up by Music choice and is in rotation on their SWRV channel. His latest visual, "Mirror Mirror", with over 18,000 views was picked up by MTVU "The Freshman", MTV.com and VH1.com and received rave reviews bringing issues, light that are overlooked everyday. With legends such a San Francisco's own Big Rich and the face of Oakland Too $hort stating that "YOGY is the next big thing out of the bay area", Keep an eye out for YOGY's new project dropping early next year titled, 88' Hooligan.
