About Xero

Xero (also known as Zero and Xiro) was a Brisbane, Australia punk rock and new wave band formed in 1978. The initial lineup was Irena Luckus, Barbara Hart, Chris Anderson, Debbie Penny, Jude Clarkin, Peter Adams and John Hunt, Deborah Thomas, Vic Allen and Lindy Morrison, soon joined by John Willsteed. Lindy Morrison was later replaced on drums by Steven Pritchard. Other members of this group included Michael O'Connell, Robert Forster, Claire McKenna, Gary Warner, Peter Adams, Sue Welch, Colin Bloxsom and Tony Childs The band split when Irena left Brisbane. They have reformed for gigs since then, initially in 1986. Members: Zero (1978) Irena Luckus- vocals, keyboard, guitar, Chris Anderson - guitar, vocals, Peter Adams - guitar, vocals, Debbie Penny - drums, John Hunt - bass, Barbara Hart - saxophone, flute, Jude Clarkin - Bongos, Zero Mk 2 (1979) Irena Luckus - vocals, keyboards, guitar, Vic Allen (aka Nicki Nought) - guitar, Deborah Thomas (aka Debbie Zero) - guitar, John Willsteed - bass, Lindy Morrison - drums, At around this time the band travelled to NSW by train, and played gigs in Canberra (in a large, very cold hall)and Newcastle (in a local pub). Zero Mk 3 (1979) Irena Luckus - vocals, keyboards, guitar, John Willsteed - bass, vocals, Lindy Morrison - drums, Robert Forster - guitar, vocals, Zero Mk 4 (1979-1980) Irena Luckus - vocals, keyboards, guitar, John Willsteed - bass, vocals, Lindy Morrison - drums, Michael O'Connell - guitar, vocals, A highlight of this lineup was opening for The Cure in support of their 2nd album, A Forest and Seventeen Seconds as released in different markets.
