About Wreckage

Ibex was a short-lived Liverpool-based rock band in 1969. It is primarily known for having Freddie Mercury (then known as Freddie Bulsara), later of Queen fame, as a member. The other members of the band were Mike Bersin on guitar, Mick Smith on drums and John 'Tupp' Taylor (later Jim Capaldi's manager) on bass. In October 1969, the band changed its name to Wreckage but broke up in November 1969. On September 9, 1969, the band performed a concert at The Sink in Liverpool, which included an encore with future Queen members Roger Taylor and Brian May. This was their first ever performance together. After Ibex, Mercury performed in Sour Milk Sea, before joining Smile with Taylor and May after bassist and singer Tim Staffell left Smile. A Wreckage demo called "Green" and Ibex's live cover of The Beatles' "Rain" would later appear on Mercury's posthumous solo box set in 2000. Live recordings exist of "Crossroads", "Communication Breakdown", "Jailhouse Rock", and "We're Going Wrong", but they have never been officially released. The band reformed in 2005 to play at the Official Queen Fan Club convention with tribute band front man Harry Hamilton of "Flash Harry" taking Freddie's place as singer. They also played support to Flash Harry in their 2004 Royal Albert Hall show. v, t, e, Queen John Deacon, Brian May, Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor, Studio albums Queen, Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, A Night at the Opera, A Day at the Races, News of the World, Jazz, The Game, Flash Gordon, Hot Space, The Works, A Kind of Magic, The Miracle, Innuendo, Made in Heaven, Live albums Live Killers, Live Magic, At the Beeb, Live at Wembley '86, Queen on Fire - Live at the Bowl, Queen Rock Montreal, Hungarian Rhapsody: Queen Live in Budapest '86, Compilations Greatest Hits, Greatest Hits II, Classic Queen, The 12" Collection, Queen Rocks, Greatest Hits III, Stone Cold Classics, The A-Z of Queen, Volume 1, Absolute Greatest, Deep Cuts (Volume 1, 2, 3), Box sets The Complete Works, Box of Tricks, Ultimate Queen, The Crown Jewels, The Platinum Collection, The Singles Collection (Volume 1, 2, 3, 4), Videography We Will Rock You, The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, Greatest Video Hits 1, Queen at Wembley, Queen Rocks, Greatest Video Hits 2, We Are the Champions: Final Live in Japan, Queen on Fire - Live at the Bowl, Queen Rock Montreal, Hungarian Rhapsody: Queen Live in Budapest '86, Tours Queen I Tour, Queen II Tour, Sheer Heart Attack Tour, A Night at the Opera Tour, Summer Gigs 1976, A Day at the Races Tour, News of the World Tour, Jazz Tour, Crazy Tour, The Game Tour, Hot Space Tour, The Works Tour, Magic Tour, Related articles Highlander, Flash Gordon, Awards, Live performances, Songs, Queen + Paul Rodgers, Ibex, Larry Lurex, Smile, The Cross, One Night of Queen, Queen: The eYe, We Will Rock You (casts), We Will Rock You: 10th Anniversary Tour, Queen at the Ballet, Discography, Deacy Amp, The Official International Queen Fan Club, Mercury Phoenix Trust, Queen Extravaganza Tour, Mountain Studios, Red Special, Spike Edney, Jim Beach, John Reid, List of "Bohemian Rhapsody" cover versions, SingStar Queen, Dragon Attack: A Tribute to Queen, Stone Cold Queen: A Tribute, Killer Queen: A Tribute to Queen, Mercury, A Night at the Hip Hopera, Book, Category, Portal, Template, WikiProject, v, t, e, Freddie Mercury Studio albums Mr. Bad Guy, Barcelona (with Montserrat Caballé), Compilations The Freddie Mercury Album, The Great Pretender, Remixes, The Solo Collection, Lover of Life, Singer of Songs, Singles "Love Kills", "I Was Born to Love You", "Made in Heaven", "Living on My Own", "Love Me Like There's No Tomorrow", "Time", "The Great Pretender", "Barcelona", "The Golden Boy", "How Can I Go On", "Barcelona" (re-issue), "In My Defence", "The Great Pretender" (re-issue), "Living on My Own" (remix), "Love Kills" (remix), Related articles Discography, The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, Queen, Smile, Ibex, Larry Lurex, The Mercury Phoenix Trust, The Hectics, Cirolana mercuryi, Mercury
