A near-academic sampling project begun by Matthew Herbert of Doctor Rockit, Wishmountain debuted with two 1996 EPs (Radio and Video) recorded for Global Communication's Evolution label. The double-pack EP Wishmountain Is Dead followed on Phonography, and a separate CD release, also titled Wishmountain Is Dead, collected much of the previous Wishmountain material.
