Revolving around singer/songwriter Mark Protus, Warriors Path mix seasoned musicians with the previously obscure Seattle frontman. Drafting in former Chicago guitarist Chris Pinnick, former Doobie Brother percussionist Chet McCracken, session drummer Gary Ferguson, former Tori Amos bassist Will MacGregor, and avant-garde composer Chas Smith, Protus also included newcomer Carole Beren to accompany him on vocals to round out the superstar lineup. Previously, Protus had left the Northwest music scene in the late '80s to become an instrumental part of the new technology division of Seattle-based Microsoft. He left at the end of the '90s to return to his musical roots, first presenting himself as a solo artist before pulling together this impressive collection of musicians at the turn of the century. The band had a talent for bluesy hard rock, and Protus' delicate voice provided a wonderful centerpiece for their loose and shuffling approach. ~ Bradley Torreano, Rovi
