Farid and Wajiha Rastagar are award winning musicians from Kabul, Afghanistan. They belong to the most famous Afghan artist in the world. With concerts around the world they inspired and reached millions of people. They have an enormous impact and influence on Afghanistan's Music Industry. With their pop/rock band "Guli Surkh" formed by Farid Rastagar in the early 80s they brought the genres "Rock" and "Pop" into Afghanistan's Music Industry for the very first time. Farid Rastagar is an accomplished composer, singer and master of music arrangement. With his music production company "Harmony Production Kabul" he worked on numerous Television shows such as "Afghan Star" and festivals such as the "Bamyan Festival" where he arranged and produced the entire music of the festival. His career has ranged from the music arrangement for other musicians such as the first Afghan female rapper to composition of songs for his wife Wajiha Rastagar. Wajiha Rastagar is one of the most talented singers in Afghanistan and perhaps one of the most controversial female artist. Her career started with the band "Guli Surkh" where she was the lead singer of the band. With her self created organization "AWA" (engl. voice) she belonged to one of the few female artist standing up for women rights in Afghanistan. Through her career she gave numerous benefits concerts to help and support women rights. For her work she received several awards and was named "Voice of Afghan Women". Farid and Wajiha Rastagar live with their four children currently in Hamburg, Germany.
