Born Thomas J. Fisher Jr. in Poughkeepsie, NY on January 7, 1986. By 4 years old his parents got divorced so T.J. and his mother moved into his Aunt’s house in Saugerties, NY. Heavily influenced by his older cousin Brian T.J. became quite in tune with Rap music. A Tribe Called Quest, Das EFX, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, Wu-Tang-Clan, LL Cool J, Onyx, Big L, Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, Kool G Rap, Run DMC, Mobb Deep, Nas, Jay-Z, EPMD ect.
T.J. started rhymin when he was 16 livin out now in Kingston, NY. Him and his couple boys from school would go over to his apartment and record for fun on a daily basis. He started goin by Marvel at the age of 17. He got more serious through high school but he always kept in on the low and never really showed off his skill to anyone except for his couple of boys that believed in him. He started recordin at his best friend’s (Biggs) crib down in the basement. They had shitty equipment but always made it work and continued to perfect there craft as an MC!
One day back in 2007 Marvel was walkin on Main St. in Poughkeepsie, NY lookin for a good quality studio to record at cause he felt his craft was ready to be put out in the air. He came across a man named Donnel who owned a store with a studio in the back called “The Stordio”. After that it was a wrap Marvel then transformed into The Upstate Menace! He dropped his first mixtape in early 2008 called “Upstate’s Menace”. He then met up with D.E. (Dingy) and Big Rod at separate times. They all felt each other’s vibe plus passion for the music so thats when they came together and put out “Its A Matter Of Time Pt. 1″ the first Nopeace mixtape! When that happened thats when people started openin there eyes up and the Nopeace team started obtaining local recognition.
As the saga continues for The Menace he drops his 2nd solo mixtape “Its Hard To Survive In The 845″ in February of 2009. By the end of that summer in 2009 he dropped his 3rd solo mixtape “No Justice No Peace” hosted by A.P. of D-Block! He jus kept grindin and kept focused so he was a very productive MC and still is. When the year 2010 came around he hooked up with DJ Curt Kre-z and dropped his 4th solo mixtape “Point Of No Return”. Which also featured a track with the D-Block rapper A.P.! He finally started doing local shows that got his and the Nopeace buzz up even more. By the time 2011 came around he linked up with a popular local rapper/producer named Pugs of Final Touch Records and put a project out called “The Green Eyed Menace Monster” which was his 5th solo mixtape. This really made him fall in love with music even more cause Pugs gave Menace such a great real raw Hip-Hop vibe which the game has been missing for alot of years! After that Menace saved up a good amount of money and got his own real good quality studio equipment and now he records himself and mix’s his own music. Within not even a full year of having his equipment he’s doing a mixtape series called “Hard Bars” which are all written freestyle tracks and he intends on droppin 1,000 volumes lol. Menace then dropped his 6th solo mixtape “You Know What Time It Is” Hosted by DJ Doowyah! In between writing and recording all the time the Nopeace team has done alot of local shows in the 845 area. Menace has opened up for Red Cafe at the La Hacienda which is now “Ole” in Newburgh, NY and has also opened up for Serious Jones twice one was at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, NY and the other was The Platinum Lounge in Poughkeepsie, NY.
As The Menace continues his journey as wanting to be the ultimate MC he is growing, maturing and perfecting his craft on a daily basis. Hard work pays off so you have got to go hard or go home. Menace will always pursue music regardless of what happens because of his deep love and passion for it. Big salute to every man, woman and child who supports that incredible team Nopeace!
