About The Killing Floor
Hailing from both sides of the Atlantic, The Killing Floor consists of brothers Mark and Oliver Alberici from London, and Marco Argiro and Peter Landi of NYC. The Killing Floor has drawn comparisons from the press to Foo Fighters, Muse, Queens of The Stone Age, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana and The Ramones, and draw a lot of their inspiration from those bands. The band gets its name “The Killing Floor” from blues legend Howlin’ Wolf’s song with the same name; a song which has been covered by the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin, two of The Killing Floor’s strong influences.
The Killing Floor came together in 2009 after meeting at the legendary Electric Lady Studios in NYC. After a short period of writing and rehearsing, the band hit the road with their new material, quickly gathering fans and becoming one of the best new live talents around. The Killing Floor released their debut self-titled album in 2011, which was very well received. Press reviews described the album as “an enticing record” with “mass appeal,” “proficient song writing,” and “infectious quality.” The song “Star Baby” was chosen as the album’s first single, and the band shot their first music video with legendary Hollywood director Joel Schumacher, whose film credits include St. Elmo’s Fire, The Lost Boys, Batman Forever, Phantom of the Opera, A Time to Kill, and Flatliners, as well as the music videos for INXS’ “Devil Inside” and Bush’s “Letting the Cables Sleep.” TKF also released an EP titled “Survival of the Fittest” in 2012, touring heavily in the US and UK to support its release.
The Killing Floor has toured extensively throughout the US, Canada and the UK, showcasing at festivals such as Download Festival, SXSW, CMJ, Indie Week Canada, CBGB Festival, Dewey Beach Music Conference, Liverpool Sound City, and The Great Escape (UK).
The band has spent much of 2013 writing and recording songs for their second full-length album. In March, they played three successful shows at SXSW in Austin, Texas, including an official showcase. In June and July, TKF embarked on a European tour, with stops in the UK, France and Portugal, as well as a slot at Download Festival, the UK’s premier rock festival.
