About the dreamscapes project

Folk-rock ensemble the Dreamscapes Project were formed in Reston, VA, after Keith Center and Jeremy Rodgers met at George Mason University in 1997. The duo was inspired by groups such as Dave Matthews Band, Days of the New, and Soul Coughing, and after Ed Bizzell (drums) and Donna Griffith (violin) joined up with Center and Rodgers, the band released its debut album, Focusing the Madness, in 1999. Following the departure of Bizzell and Griffith, the band recruited Dave Clark and experienced a slight shift in sound when its violin slot was replaced by cello, courtesy of Ben Guy. In this incarnation, the Dreamscapes Project released their first live album, A Lot More Colors in My World, in 2002. After the release of their 2005 album, There Are No Safe Words, Clark parted ways with the group and was replaced by Gordon Shankman (drums) and Eric Sanford (percussion). The band's growing following eventually attracted the attention of producer Ted Comerford and engineers Jeff Juliano and Paul Hager, who helped the Dreamscapes Project record Pity in a Heartbeat. The album was released on Figmental Records in 2007. ~ Katherine Fulton, Rovi
