Based in Los Angeles, The 88 emerged as a fresh face on the music scene in 2003 with the release of their debut CD, Kind of Light (EMK Records). The 88 is made up of Keith Slettedahl (Guitar/Vocals), Brandon Jay (Acoustic Guitar), Adam Merrin (Piano), Carlos Torres (Bass), and Mark Vasapolli (Drums). After pulling through their wild teen years and starting a number of unsuccessful bands, the members of The 88 came together and soon became known as one of the best live performance groups in L.A. Kind of Light exhibits an innovative combination of musical influences to create a pop, alt-country, and rock-and-roll effect. In 2003, The 88 was chosen as best pop/rock band in the LA Weekly music awards, and hassince been featured in a number of publications and television shows.
