STS was first introduced to the public on The Roots Grammy-Nominated release, How I Got Over, where he was featured on the cuts, “Right On” and “Hustla". Later that month he released, Demand More II featuring the underground hits, "The People" and "In For The Kill". He soon brought his G.O.L.D act to stage, setting off sold out shows for acts such as Travis Barker, 50 Cent, J-Cole, Big Sean, B.O.B and The Roots among others. That buzz resulted in a spotlight on MTV2’s Sucker Free Sunday as the featured act for XXL’s Show & Prove segment.
STS is also a member of Black Thought's Money Making Jam Boys, a crew of respected MC’s led by The Roots front man. The group released, The Prestige, a free album of original songs, 9 of which featured STS including the single, "Tear It Down."
STS's love of couture soon found companies taking notice as he appeared in ads for Casio's G-Shock, 10DEEP, Karmloop's Spring 2012 Men' Collection LookBook, as well as a profile in Nike's "The One" series.
July 2011 found STS releasing his debut, The Illustrious, an album featuring appearances by YelaWolf, Farnsworth Bentley and Tony Williams. Powered by his unique flow over the production by SKI BEATZ, THE ALCHEMIST, WILL POWER and The KNUX, The Illustrious, made many year-end lists including NPR’s list of 50 FAVORITE RELEASES OF 2011 alongside Adele, Frank Ocean and Watch The Throne. NPR Music later selected Sugar Tongue Slim as one of their Favorite New Artists Of 2011 .
His recent mix-tape series, The GOLDRush, a weekly campaign that found S.T.S. flippin’ some of music’s most popular records and making them his own. Introducing Slim to a new audience via cuts like "Cut Me Off", "Something About You" and "Great Mood". The follow up, GOLDRush II and GOLDRush III have also made some noise while touring overseas with Kavinsky and The Crookers.
