(January 2013) Sterlen Ethen Roberts (born June 24, 1982), known as Sterlen Roberts is an American rapper, producer and music video director, son of Grammy-nominated gospel legend Steven Roberts. Born and raised in Oakland California. Formally a producer under Jodeci's DeVante Swing. Sterlen recorded "She Works" produced by Allstar thebigbeatmaker featuring Def jam recording artist Luke James. Sterlen in his early years went under the alias aka: Playboi. His first music video aired on BET called "Like Dat" in 2003 under Moya's Anxiety Records. Sterlen reportedly was negotiating a deal with Motown Universal Records. The deal fell through. Sterlen was well known for electrifying the Sha Money XL Nationwide beat conference beat battle in 2008, winning the competition as a walk-on. At the age of 16 Sterlen released his first single; Bay Love featuring Extra Prolific of Hieroglyphics. His first song "Turn Me Out" hit the radio waves on the bay areas party station KYLD 94.9, the song featured 4th season American Idol runner up Latoya London". Sterlen started off his career as a young artist briefly working under super producer Narada Michael Walden in San Rafael Ca. Sterlen recently signed with MTL Records, CEO Todd-Di-Martino, a successful business man who obtain the help of Dina LaPolt/ LaPolt Law, to start an indie-record label. Sterlen has calaborated with many heavy hitters in the music industry including Flo-Rida keyshia Cole Beyonce Flavor Flav Busta Rhymes Luke James Mr DJ, Poo-Bear, K-ci & Jojo Dalvin DeGrate Sterlen was recently featured in XXL magazine Show and prove.
