Combining vigorous electrical tones with powerful rhythms, Seven Four Slide ultimately give away a particular breed of modernistic alternative rock & roll, added by picks of funk, jazz, and even gothic style marks. Comprising a five-piece lineup, fronted by vocalist Mary Van Dyke, along with Ben Lansing (guitar), Tina Paulson (electric cello), John Blunk (bass), and Michael Tooles (drums, percussion), Seven Four Slide first formed in June 1994, in Memphis, TN. Following a three-year period during which the band played around most of the local club area, Slide recorded their first full-length disc. Seven Four Slide, the group's self-titled debut album, hit record stores in 1997, one year before the crew settled on moving to Chicago. Arriving in the Windy City in January 1998, Slide then started searching for new opportunities at the local alternative scene. ~ Mario Mesquita Borges, Rovi
