Sam and the Womp are a three piece music group from the United Kingdom who formed in 2009. Their music mixes traditional elements of Balkan music with modern electronic and dance elements. Their music was largely popularised by BBC Radio 1 with a heavy promotion of their debut single "Bom Bom". This was released as a digital download on 19 August 2012 and went to the number one spot in the UK Singles Chart. As of 2012, they are signed to Stiff Records.
The band consists of Bloem de Ligny as lead singer, who is also a solo artist; Sam Ritchie on brass; and Aaron Horn (son of record producer Trevor Horn).

Sam and the Womp was formed in September 2009 when Ritchie's band Qdos joined forces with Horn.
2012-present: Debut single edit:
Initially signed to Stiff Records, Sam and the Womp released "Bom Bom" under a licensing deal with One More Tune on August 20, 2012. The track gained further momentum after being used to soundtrack an international TV advertising campaign for Southern Comfort. The song is also featured in the game Forza Horizon, on the Channel 4 TV show Big Fat Gypsy Weddings, and an episode of the CBS TV program Elementary. Kmart Australia also featured the song in their new Irresistible Prices TV commercial, released on March 21, 2013. Recently the song has been used in a series of Canadian TV commercials for the Joe Fresh line of clothing. The track went to number one in the UK Official Singles Chart in its first week of release.
"Bom Bom" was produced by music producer and film composer Raz Olsher at Fossil Studios in Hackney, London; it was co-produced by Horn and Ritchie. The song is credited to Horn, Ritchie, de Ligny and Olsher.
