Sabrina Antoinette is one of those rare artists whose passion and talent shine through in everything she does. The Texas native is already taking her newly adopted city of Los Angeles by storm, and is gearing up to release her debut single independently via CBE (Chris Brown Entertainment). The album’s first single, “I Know You’re Out There,” and the accompanying video which premiered on MTV Buzzworthy. Sabrina’s songs touch on universal themes including love, inspiration and heartbreak. “I like telling stories about my life and things that happen with my friends. It’s a nice little rollercoaster for everybody,” she says. “Actually, one of my favorite songs for my EP is called ‘Everclear.’ It’s my version of a love song.” Her debut single “I Know You’re Out There” is an anthem for those who haven’t yet found their soul mate, and the gorgeously shot video was filmed on the streets of Los Angeles. “All of the CBE artists work together in writing camps,” Sabrina explains. “We had the amazing opportunity to experience the process of making the ‘F.A.M.E’ and ‘Fortune’ albums. I was actually featured on the song ‘Trumpet Lights’ off the ‘Fortune’ album which was nominated for a Grammy.” Sabrina’s positive outlook is evident in her upbeat, catchy melodies and her lyrics that encourage people to look beyond their immediate circumstances. “My song ‘Big City’ was inspired by my always having a dream. I believe that everybody has some kind of dream,” she explains. “Taking that leap of faith to go for it is a huge step, but you never know until you try. I’m not the kind of person who can be comfortable wondering ‘what if.’ “ Sabrina’s fate as a performer was sealed when she was just five years old and saw Elvis Presley on television. “I saw him moving his hips and I thought, ‘I’m gonna be like that man!’” she laughs. A few years later, when she was 13, her cousin passed away, and her family asked her to sing at the funeral. “I saw my family and friends’ reaction and how my singing touched them and gave them comfort,” says Sabrina. “I was like ‘Wow, I really want to do this—I want to touch people in some way.’” She continued performing in talent shows as a teen, and later became a radio DJ in Austin, which solidified her ambition to become a songwriter and performer. “When I was working as a DJ, I knew I wanted to be on the radio. A couple of local artists asked me if I could write melodies and demo hooks for their songs which got me started recording. Then I began to reach out to producers as well to write and be a part of it all,” she recalls. Flash forward to today, and Sabrina is embarking on the musical journey of a lifetime.
