About Rich Gordon
Since 2004 I’ve released 3 full studio albums, 1 EP and worked with other musicians on their own projects. I’m currently studying with Berklee College of Music (albeit distance learning).
My musical style has been described as “Rush on mescaline”, but in truth it’s very varied, so I struggle to classify my music into one genre. I think it’s fair to say that it’s very progressive in nature, but I’ve explored so many different styles in my writing it can’t be pigeon-holed. But, if pushed, I would say:
Eclectic soulful "progstrumetalism" portraying symphonic audio comic books.
As Joe Satriani is the whole reason I got into playing guitar, I am predominantly influenced by him.
However, along the way I discovered a great many musicians who have had a further influence on my sound (including but not limited to):
Steve Vai Paul Gilbert Andy Timmons Eric Johnson Rush (I was once described as “Rush on mescaline”) Porcupine Tree Devin Townsend Planet X Genesis Frank Zappa
The list goes on. I’m always discovering new music and discovering new aspects of my personality to explore through my music.
