About Rhona Bennett

The first lady of Epic/Darkchild is Rhona Bennett and she is the prodigy of studio genius Rodney Jerkins, founder of Darkchild Records. The 21-year-old native Chicago beauty has what it takes to be a hit a great voice, style, and looks.

After being spotted by a local agent, she was booked for her first major role which came in an Oprah Winfrey series for ABC. This was an important undertaking, as it lead to an audition for the Disney Channel's Mickey Mouse Club resulting in her becoming a full-fledged Mousekateer. The Mickey Mouse Club has spawned such names such as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, and she is a close friend of 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake.

After four years as a Mousekateer, Bennett moved to California and worked on building her acting career, which lead to guest spots with Martin Lawrence on Martin, Living Single, and The Single Guy. She starred in UPN's Homeboys in Outer Space in 1996. In 1998, she acted in her first independent film, No Vacancy, starring Christina Ricci and Lolita Davidovitch, followed by a recurring role on The Jamie Foxx Show.

Rhona, who signed to Jerkins' Darkchild Records in 1999, has spent the several years honing her image and she has drawn favorable vocal comparisons to Whitney Houston with the added looks of supermodel Tyra Banks.

Rhona's single "Satisfied" was released in 2001 with the self-titled LP, Rhona released later that year. ~ Paul Clifford, Rovi
