It was almost accidental the way award winning singer / songwriter, Rebecca Helmer began forging her way through the music industry. She grew up naturally writing music on the piano and guitar, and her first public performance at the age of eight perhaps prepared her for baring her songs for tens of thousands throughout her career. However, it wasn’t until she appeared in a humble Oregon college town recording studio just after her teens to record a handful of her compositions, that her career took flight. Word spread like wildfire and people wanted to know where they could buy her CD. She reproduced copies, at first by the hundreds, and then by thousands and sold them at her increasing number of performances. Since then, her blossoming career has led her to perform worldwide, including televised and on air performances with unmatched style, creativity, and vocal control. After her original, self-titled acoustic album sold out in a few months, she produced her sophomore album, Intrigued, which showcases her vocal range with songs that come from the depths of her soul, and others that flow soft and flirtatiously over catchy guitar hooks and delicate piano pieces. Her newest CD, Desire features a more sensual side of Rebecca's writing that exhibits her powerful, sultry voice that has been likened to the soulful sounds of Alicia Keys, and the passionate purity of Sarah McLachlan. Her music is a provocative and intriguing hybrid of pop, rock, folk, and soul that leaves fans wanting more. Critics define Rebecca Helmer's music as simply beautiful, and agree "...This woman is going places..."
