About Rachel Timberlake
With a deep religious faith and a devoted husband who believes in her, Timberlake also possesses the necessary resourcefulness for anyone who wants to succeed in today's crowded music landscape. She has already been a big winner in several other ways. She was a collegiate basketball player before injuries ended her athletic endeavors and she turned to teaching, something she still loves even as she's preparing for the major life transitions that would come with stardom in the music industry. "I've really enjoyed teaching. It's been a stable, though certainly demanding job, but it's helped me professionally and personally,” she said. “When the children in my class have heard about me singing, they've been very supportive. While music is something I feel ready for and a challenge that excites me, I'm not just going to toss aside teaching and overlook what it's done for me. "Aware that many performers relocate to Music City in order to achieve their goals, she's both willing to take the chance but wise enough to do it responsibly. "We had a great life and were happy prior to music," Timberlake concludes, "However we tried to start a family of our own without success and my perspective on life drastically changed. I grew up planning my adult life as far as school, marriage, a home and a family. "But one day I woke up and realized that I was not in control, and couldn't plan every detail of my life. I realized that you must trust that God's plan is right and follow his lead even though it may not be what you want at the time. Through that I have found a new passion, entertaining through music. When I get on stage it is an adrenaline rush like no other and I love going on the road and putting on high energy shows. If that path someday brings me to Nashville, then I'll be thrilled and happy to come."
With four years of touring, consisting of hundreds of shows and thousands of miles on the road, Rachel was reminded of how fragile life can be…and how everything can change in split second. Heading back from a show in Savannah, Georgia in late 2013, she and her band were involved in a horrific accident with a drunk driver. Thankfully, no lives were lost…but it forced the band off the road for a couple of months as they recovered from injuries and worked to replace all of their equipment. The accident also helped the band to refocus their efforts, and provided inspiration for the “American Made” album. “After we recovered, we had time to reflect on the situation, and it was obvious to us that there was a greater plan for all of us. Our bond as a band grew much stronger, and we immediately started writing the new album” says Timberlake. “With greater inspiration and passion, we set forth to make an album that was straight from the heart, a culmination of the struggles that we have faced, as well as the values that were instilled in me at a young age, and most importantly…music that just felt good us.” Ironically, the band finished recording the new album exactly one year to the week after being involved in the accident. 2014 was full of ups and downs for Rachel and the band, but they are excited to let the world hear the new music, and are excited for what the future holds in store.
