In August, the group made their comeback with the single "Figaro" as a group of 7 members, with which Hyuna made her debut single. Once the promotional period for "Figaro" started management thought to change the group name to Sweet Candy as it would confuse people if Nine Muses was a group with only 7 members. Months later the group's agency confirmed that the group name is not changing since that in the future it would add two members to become 9 girls. The group released "Figaro" and its accompanying music video on August 18, 2011. 2012: Sweet Rendezvous, Sungah and Kyungri Debut: Nine Muses introduced a new member, Kyungri, at the group's performance in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Out of respect for their wishes to focus on their individual activities in various aspects, we decided to let go of Nine Muses members Lee Sem and Eunji... The two of them will continue under the same agency even after their withdrawing". On June 23, 2014, it was announced that Sera had also left the group after her contract's expiration, and that Nine Muses would be coming back in August with a new member. In a press release, the company said, "Nine Muses' Sera's contract has reached its expiration date so she has decided to graduate from Nine Muses. Her future activities have not been discussed in detail, and we will cheer on and respect Sera's new start. Nine Muses plan to recruit a new member and with a reorganized team, they plan to make a comeback early August. We also ask that you show your support and love for the future activities of Sera as well as Nine Muses." After Sera's departure, several prominent fan sites decided to boycott the addition of any new members and temporarily closed their doors. They released a statement saying that if Star Empire could not properly take care of the remaining members, they worried about the possible ramifications of adding anyone new, citing the fact that Nine Muses was already seen by the public as a "disorganized group". "Based on what we have seen of the current members, all of them are fully capable in their roles. Therefore we can believe in the current 6 members and support them. We hope that the company will also have faith in the current 6 members too. We will only support a 6-membered Nine Muses; until the intent to add new members is revoked, we will continue this boycott. If we only passively go along with the company's decisions, the fandom's size and atmosphere will change drastically from before. We are strongly against the addition of new members, and only want the very best for the current six members." On July 21st, the company announced that the comeback might be delayed due to the finalizing of the new members' additions.
