About Nigel Preston

Nigel Preston (born April 4, 1959, London, England, died April 1, 1992) was a British drummer . He was a founding member of The Cult. He also played and recorded with Sex Gang Children, Theatre of Hate, The Gun Club, The Baby Snakes and Deluca. His biggest hit was "She Sells Sanctuary" by The Cult from their Love L.P. In March 1985, The Cult recorded their fourth single, "She Sells Sanctuary", which charted at #15 in the UK charts. It re-entered the charts at #56 in September 1986, spending 14 consecutive weeks on the charts. The song was recently voted #18 in VH1's Indie 100. Preston refused to accept being put on wages after the song became a hit and parted company with the band in June 1985. He then went to New York and worked with Nile Rogers. Nigel was a regular face on the London club scene and was a big personality, the 'life and soul of the party'. Nigel died on April 1, 1992
