About Ned Bouhalassa
Ned Bouhalassa managed to shake the very academic world of musique concrete by leaving his padded studio to follow students in their tastes and interests. A man of contrasts, Bouhalassa represents the new generation of electroacoustic composers, at least in spirit if not in age.
Ned Bouhalassa was born in Le Mans, France, 1962, of an Algerian father and a Breton mother. He studied musique concrete with Kevin Austin and Francis Dhomont in Montreal. He became active on the musique concrete scene in 1987, participated to numerous concerts and radio programs on the national radio Radio-Canada. He has been president of the Canadian Electroacoustic Community and taught at the Concordia University from 1991 to 1996. His other activities include being a DJ in a college radio and working in the field of techno music under various pseudonyms. His first CD, Aérosol, was released in 1998 by the Montreal label Empreintes DIGITALes. ~ François Couture, Rovi
