Nanang Tatang plays sleepy dream pop that combines introspective songwriting and the spare, slow motion arrangements of a band like Low with primitive drum programming, sustained drones and tones and ambient textures.
The group, which formed in New York City, is one of many collaborations between partners Daniel Littleton and Elizabeth Mitchell, the co-founders of Ida. With Mitchell providing vocals and Littleton on piano, harmonium, guitar, Wurlitzer, viola, organ and bass, the duo recorded their debut under this moniker in their home studio. Muki, released on Tiger Style in 2003 took the trademark touches of Ida and expanded the sound in an exploration of new and intimate musical terrain. ~ Charles Spano, Rovi
