Mystery Skulls is an American indie pop/electronica act originally from Dallas, Texas, but now based in Los Angeles, California.
Mystery Skulls began as a project by Luis Dubuc, formerly of The Secret Handshake. The first public activity of the project was through its Tumblr account, which made its first post on August 8, 2011 with a video of the song "Amazing." The first commercial release, a 5 song EP, debuted on December 30, 2011. It received favorable reviews and saw a great deal of popularity on websites such as Bandcamp, with reviewers praising the record's production values. Dubuc took his backing group (keyboardist Casey Crawford and the guitarist from his former group Of Legends, Zack Ordway) across the country to perform in several college towns. These live shows were also praised a great deal. Reviews in Dallas were particularly glowing, with one critic lauding the group's ability to insert life into any venue they perform at.
In June 2013, Mystery Skulls signed with major label Warner Music Group.
Dubuc has promised more music from the project in the very near future and regularly releases demo material on the Mystery Skulls Tumblr. He is working on the debut album and collaborating with other artists, such as Nile Rodgers of Chic, Adam Lambert, and Avicii. Dubuc continues to perform shows across the country.
