Possessing a booming voice that's been compared to the likes of Miley Cyrus, Adele, and Emily Hanes, Lourdes is finally putting her money where her mouth is and coming onto the music scene. Always having a knack for music, Lourdes began writing songs in the 3rd grade. "It's funny, I still remember the first song I ever wrote. It was called 'Toys For Mics'. I really don't even remember what it was about. It was just a whole lot of stuff jumbled together," Lourdes says of her first ever song.
Teaching herself to play guitar in just a few weeks and after writing over 500 songs, it came to a point where Lourdes decided to get serious. Always loving to write, writing songs for a hand-made album Lourdes gave to her classmates in the 7th grade was easy. Lourdes hand-made the demo for anyone who wanted it, not selling a single copy and having barely any promotion. "It was different. I was different. There were people who sang yes, but no other 7th grader was talking about how they were releasing an album at the end of the school year," says Lourdes of her middle school days. Having support of close friends and family, Lourdes kept going. "I thought, you know, if people can get a record deal just from posting their songs on MySpace or Youtube, then why can't I?"
Lourdes started her own record label, Fine Mess Records, in 2007 and plans to release her debut single and EP in early 2013. "I didn't want to have to wait for someone to "discover" me. I wanted to be in complete control over everything that had my likeness on it," says Lourdes. Starting to take music even more seriously, Lourdes moved to be enrolled into a performing arts high school and the Dallas Austin after school program in 2010. In the program Lourdes worked with other student on original music to be presented in a showcase competition that took place on April 16, 2011. There, Lourdes met her now current manager, Joyce Irby. After a few meetings, Toni began work on her debut EP.
2014 is just around the corner and Lourdes is going to take the year by storm with her debut single "Golden Days" and her debut EP due out early in the year. "I really think this is the year for me. I've been working so hard to have my music sound exactly like I want it. People think musicians just write a song, record it, and boom it's ready for release. It's not that easy!" says Toni. You can expect new music from Lourdes in 2013.
