About Knorkator

A highly satirical and comedic industrial metal (all the while paying lip service to the more theatrical aspects of metal, including the over the top vocals and over the top arrangement) act, Germany's Knorkator was the self described "Deutschlands meiste Band der Welt," or "Germany's most band in the world" to give one a glimpse into their operating sense of humor. They formed in 1994, but kept to the Berlin area for the first chunk of their career. Their first real national exposure -- and continental European for that matter -- came about when their song "Ick wer zun Schwein" (or I'm Turning Into a Pig, in English) was Knorkator's entry into the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest. The band, whose members include Stumpen on vocals, Buzz Dee on guitar, Alf Ator on keyboards and such -- as well as vocals, Nick Aragua on drums, and Tim Buktu on bass, put on an equally over the top stage show, somewhere in the neighborhood of metal gods Gwar or Lordi mixed in with a bit of early Faith No More flair, with Stumpen performing in underpants. The band has released a handful of comical heavy-ness over the years, from their debut EP, A, in 1995 to 2007's Das nächste Album aller Zeiten. In 2005, Knorkator released a live DVD, entitled Zu alt. ~ Chris True, Rovi
