Kevin Pronty, aka Kev P, was born January 17, 1990 in Cleveland, OH. Growing up on Cleveland's east side, Kev took to music at the tender age of 6, learning to play the piano. By age 7 he performed at his first recital. He held tight to his musical inclinations, learning to play the alto saxophone and fostering his piano skills throughout middle school; adding drums to the repertoire by teaching h...imself to play, in the eighth grade.
Kev found himself playing with music, spending summers freestyling and writing songs; for fun rather than for sport. In his early twenty’s, he realized the music he once listened to as a child, now connected with him on a different level, in a different way. First being introduced to YouTube’s independent music scene and then the popular audio software Audacity, by his close cousin David, Kev decided to venture out and play with his love for music. He teamed up with his cousin David, and together they recorded their first song, "Shut em Down" from the Onyx instrumental. Encouraged by the positive feedback inspired by his verse on the track "Shut em Down", he recorded his first mixtape, "The Debut". Using Audacity alone and learning while creating, the quality of "The Debut" mixtape was terrible; but nevertheless it helped him discover himself as an artist.
He continued rapping, growing as a person and an artist. He decided to continue grooming his talents and linked up with a female artist. Together, they headed into a legitimate studio where they recorded three songs together, before deciding to go there separate ways. Kev vowed to himself, to never work in a group again, opting to push on as a solo artist. He quickly began working on his first solo project, "Old School Swaggin", which was released May 27, 2011. After rocking the mic to old school rap classic beats and melodies, such as: 2Pac's "Hit em Up", Missy Elliot's "Hot Boyz", and Snoop Dogg's "Gin and Juice," he received an encouraging amount of positive feedback, influencing him further to continue his efforts in becoming a rapper.
At the conclusion of summer, August 2011, he began recording his second solo project, "Superstar in the Making", which featured old school classic instrumentals as well as some newer material. In September of 2011 he performed for the first time, at Kinsman Community Festival and also at the Roc Bar's MC's Only night, during both performances he received positive feedback and compliments from the crowd. "Superstar in the Making" was released December 18, 2011, only further implementing Kev as a listen worthy artist to keep an eye on.
In early 2012 Kev P started working with Kristy Steele of Hip-Hop Digital, within a few weeks of working together Kev released his first single “No Room”. Kev is currently working on his third mixtape, "Chasing A Dream", which will be his first solo project debuting all original tracks and is due to be released late November 2012.
