Violinist Katherine Burton hails from Philadelphia, where in addition to performing and releasing records, she teaches as a string instructor at the Philly School District. Burton has performed alongside several choirs (including the Martin Luther King Jr. Choir, the James Cleveland Gospel Music Workshop of America, the Thomas Dorsey Convention, etc.), but it was with the Sequence Choir of Queens, NY, that Burton performed alongside in London, England. In 1999, Burton issued her debut recording, I'll Fly Away, a compilation of hymns and contemporary gospel music -- with an inspired reading of R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly" being an obvious standout. Burton's musical talents have been passed down to her two sons, Desmond and George III, who are both gifted violinists in their own right, as well. ~ Greg Prato, Rovi
